Pooling power and using it just at the right moment. This is the principle of cylinder on demand; because performance does not necessarily mean a high level of consumption. With the innovative cylinder on demand, the power in all the cylinders is pooled and is only used when it is really needed.
Powerful engines are often mainly only operated in the lower/medium partial throttle range which has a negative effect on efficiency (and therefore on consumption). Cylinder on demand reduces fuel consumption by deactivating cylinders under partial throttle.
